Udit Sarkhel has received national and international acclaim in the field of cooking and is the author of two books,
'The Bombay Brasserie Cookbook' and
'The Calcutta Kitchen'.
Udit Sarkhel was born and raised in Jamshedpur, in the state of Bihar east India. After school, he left for Calcutta and enrolled as a medical student. His digs were in Manick Tala, in the city centre, where he enjoyed the usually fun, but always exciting life of a young man living in a bustling cosmopolitan city. He then moved to Bombay where he would change his career forever and enrolled into catering college. This marked the beginning of Udit's success story and his love affair with Indian food.
Twenty years later Udit Sarkhel has opened and run many successful restaurants, including Sarkhel's, SW18. He has also authored and co-authored cookery books, and received many accolades and awards including, Winner of the Carlton London Restaurant Award ‘Best Indian Restaurant' 1999, Winner of BIBA ‘Best in Britain Award’ May 1999, Dec 2000 and the Gold Medal in June 2002, the list goes on…
